About us

5 plus Mountain Academy was established in 2007 by two sisters Marta and Marychna Krzeptowska, who at the same time run the mountain hut at the Five Polish Lakes Valley (Piec Stawow.) This allows us to invite  you for a training in the heart of the Polish High Tatra Mountains. At the same time we will organise your trek or climb anywhere in the Tatra range. Our strongest side are the people – the people at the Hut, as well as our guiding and instructing staff: the best Tatra Mountain Guides, International IFMGA guides, Polish Alpine Association certified Instructors, and rescuers of the Tatra Mountain Rescue Service.

The Hut

Come visit us at the Five Polish Lakes Valley (Piec Stawow). You can reach us at the altitude of 1670 a.s.l at the very heart of the Polish Tatra Mountains.

We are the only truly off-grid hut in the Tatra – our provisions need to be lited with a cable car from the bottom of the valley, and to reach the hut you need to walk one of the available mountain paths.

Among the things we can boast are definitely the best apple pie in our mountains, and the longest lasting skiable conditions.  So if you have a sweet tooth or like skitouring  in the backcountry you are particularly welcome.

We operate throughout the year, regardless of the conditions. You can find accommodation in rooms ranging from 2- to 10-persons. Our Kitchen is open daily. You can leave excess luggage in a baggage room. There is, traditionally, available at the hut constant access to boiling water, should you want to prepare your own meals or bevarages.

The easiest way to get to the valley is via a green trail in Roztoka Valley from the tarmac road leading to Morskie Oko, but there are other options including the high passes: Zawrat, Krzyżne, Szpiglasowa, or summits like Kozi Wierch. We are also a perfect starting or finishing point for a trek/scramble along the most notoriously difficult trail in the Tatra: Orla Perć (Eagles’ Path).
